Community Services

Dawson Creek Society for Community Living provides an array of community services and supports for adults with developmental disabilities, transitioning youth who are soon to be 19, seniors and families

We answer to many funding bodies, each of whom have their own criteria that must be met to receive services funded by them. If you are interested in learning more about the various services and supports offered by DCSCL, please contact us today.

Community Inclusion

DCSCL’s Community Inclusion programs are designed to support individuals to lead full, independent, and dignified lives within their community. DCSCL recognizes that in order to integrate as fully as possible into society, frequent community involvement is required; as such, we encourage individuals to actively participate in their community.

By doing so, natural supports are formed; the more involved in community individuals are, the more they are recognized and in turn, recognize community members. In time, friendships may be built and in the interim, the individual enjoys enhanced independence, safety, and inclusion.

Supported Employment

Dawson Creek Society for Community Living is proud to support adults with developmental disabilities to gain the skills necessary to aide them in becoming proud and contributing members of society. There is no better feeling than the satisfaction of a job well-done!  Vocational training is provided by Job Coaches to ensure job readiness, skill building, and job placement.

We are also very fortunate to have Confidential Shredding; a safe, very secure and confidential shredding service, serving Dawson Creek and the Peace Region, including Tumbler Ridge, Chetwynd and Hudson’s Hope. Confidential Shredding allows us the opportunity to provide a variety of employment positions to persons with disabilities, supply in-house training to gauge employment readiness, and to build partnerships within the community while delivering a much-needed service.
